Divi Pixel: Highlights and Best Moments from 2021

by Dec 27, 2021Announcements

While we are planning our next steps for another year full of awesome new modules and features, we would like to pause for a moment and recall what a great year 2021 was.

Not only because Divi Pixel got better every week, but also because we managed to promote it and win the trust of thousands of people all over the world. People who build websites use the most reliable and powerful plugin, which is undoubtedly Divi Pixel.

Of course, all this would not be possible without our great customers and the entire Divi Pixel community, which supports us every day and takes an active part in improving the plugin. The year 2021 is now coming to an end and I have to say it’s been a great year with dozens of new modules added, many features improved and last but not least a lot of bugs fixed.

In this article, we’re going to take a stroll down memory lane and recap some of the highlights, victories and best moments of 2021 so buckle your seat belt and let’s go.

2021 Blog

Free tutorials and resources

We are proud to support the Divi community – not only with the best tools for the job. Over the last 12 months we have published many tutorials and we also gave away various freebies to all Divi users. The most popular tutorial published in 2021 was the one where we showed you step by step how to add a carousel slider to a Divi site without using a plugin.

January 2021

Timeline module and performance update

We started 2021 with a bang. In January, we released a performance update in which we completely rebuilt the plugin code to load module resources on demand. During the year, many competitors noticed how much better Divi Pixel performed so some of them started copying our techniques. However, as far as we can tell, not all of them did such a good job.

That’s because Divi Pixel only loads the resources of individual modules if they are used on a specific page. Other plugins we checked out either loaded the code for all modules even if only one is used or they load the code all the time, even if none of their modules or features is used at all.

In this update, we also added the Timeline module that allows you to build beautiful timeline sections. For this module, we focused on user experience, so the timeline flow during scrolling simply looks stunning and yet is highly customizable to fit your needs perfectly.

March 2021

The Balloon module

In March 2021, it was time for another major update. This time our team had completed another new module. A module which was highly anticipated and a powerful tool for creating tooltips on Divi sites.

The Balloon module, well actually the popup it creates, is the most underrated and underused element in web design projects. In general, it’s a tooltip that can be displayed after the user hovers or click on a specific element on your website. The Divi Pixel Balloon module comes with powerful settings. You can easily display icons, titles, descriptions and buttons, or if you need a more complex layout to be displayed, you can even use Divi Library items as its content.

JUNE 2021

Divi Library Shortcodes

This was a game-changer. In June 2021, we have added new functionality to the plugin. The Divi Library Shortcodes opens completely new design options. This is a very useful feature that allows you to use Divi Library items inside other modules simply by using a little shortcode. There is a new column in the Divi Library where you can copy the library item shortcode and place it in any other module which supports shortcodes in their text fields.

July 2021

FAQ module with structured data

In July 2021, we have introduced yet another powerful module. A Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) page contains a list of questions and answers about a specific subject – though you could use the module on any page for that matter, e. g. on product or service pages.

Well structured and deployed FAQ sections can be eligible for a rich text result in the Google search and as actions in Google Assistant, which can greatly help you to reach the right audience and draw customers onto your website. Our FAQ module can output this exact structured data Google needs alongside the actual FAQ section, either as individual toggles, accordion or plain text.

But the module can not only be used for FAQ sections. It is basically an accordion module on steroids with tons of additional features so you can use it basically everywhere where you need a properly animated and fully customizable accordion.

August 2021

Introducing the Image Slider module

The whole year we never slowed down. So naturally, after a few weeks, our next module was ready to see the light of day. Sure, some modules took us a little longer to finish, but we always got our job done in the end.

In August, we released another major update where we added the Image Slider module. It is a powerful module that allows you to create interactive sliders. You can add thumbnails navigation, animation effects, titles, description, buttons and more to each slide.

It is a kind of extended and more advanced version of the Divi slider and for many, it has already replaced the native Divi module for good since the look and feel as well as the animations of the Image Slider are so much better than the Divis slider module.

September 2021

Create amazing text headers with the Divi Pixel Dual Heading module

We’ve worked hard and we did so every day just to make Divi Pixel even the tiniest bit better. Naturally there was another big surprise in the major September update. This time, we published a module for creating interactive and animated headlines. It is a powerful module which at first you might not understand until you see some examples but once you get the gist of it, you won’t stop using it.

Whether it be for the stroke effects, the subtile background text or the animated image backgrounds applied only to the text, we promise you will come to love this module once you get familiar with it so checking out our demo section and the freebies we created using this module is a must.

October 2021

Huge update to the Image Mask module

The Divi Pixel team isn’t just working on new modules, no, we also spend a lot of time improving our existing modules that are already available in the plugin. So in 2021, we improved the Masonry Gallery, where we added coverflow effects, as well as all carousel modules, where we added new image animations.

However, the biggest tweak we made was the improvements to the Image Mask module. We improved the mask selection where it was previously impossible to visually select a mask but thanks to our ingenious developers, you now can get a visual preview of the mask right in the module settings. We also added 28 completely new masks, and customization options that allow you to manipulate the shape of the mask by changing the height, width or angle.

December 2021

Introducing SVG Animator for Divi

In early December, we released another major update and of course, a new module has been added as well. This was the thirty-third module we added to the ever growing list of modules in our plugin. What does it do? Well, it allows you to animatedly draw SVG images.

SVG Animator can be used to display large images on the page, but in our opinion it works best for icons. Images will appear with an impressive drawing animation effect. This module, like all Divi Pixel modules, has several extraordinary options to modify its behavior. We can, for example, change the line thickness, color and adjust the animation options right from the module without the need to touch the SVG.
